Linux Mint 18.1 KDE and Xfce Serena Images Released for VirtualBox and VMware
Linux Mint project recently announced the new KDE and Xfce versions of Linux Mint 18.1 codenamed “Serena” based on Ubuntu 16.04.1 LTS. “The team is proud to announce the release of Linux Mint 18.1 “Serena” KDE Edition. Linux Mint 18.1 is a long term support release which will be supported until 2021. It comes with updated software and brings refinements and many new features to make your desktop even more comfortable to use. This release ships with the KDE Plasma 5.8 desktop environment. A new column is available to show where updates come from and sort them by origin. This release ships with linux-firmware 1.157.5 and the Linux kernel 4.4.0-53. The Language Settings checks are more exhaustive than before. In previous versions, full support for a particular language included its language packs and localized versions of popular applications such as Thunderbird and Firefox. This now includes a lot more packages such as dictionaries, help packages, fonts, and optional components which depend on the list of applications you installed.
