Kubuntu project announced the latest version of Kubuntu codenamed 16.04 Xenial: “Plasma 5, the next generation of KDE’s desktop has been rewritten to make it smoother to use while retaining the familiar setup. Kubuntu 16.04 comes with KDE Applications 15.12 containing all your favourite apps from KDE, including Dolphin. Even more applications have been ported to KDE Frameworks 5 but those which aren’t, should fit in seamlessly. Canonical announced the latest version of Lubuntu codenamed 16.04 Xenial, New features: general bug-fix release as we prepare for LXQt; many LXDE components have been updated with bug-fix releases; an update of the artwork (more icons, theme update, more compatibilities) and more. Lubuntu 16.04 LTS will be supported until April 2019, with three years of support.

Ubuntu Gnome:
Ubuntu Gnome team announced the latest version of Ubuntu Gnome codenamed 16.04 Xenial: “GNOME 3.18. Fixes to Language pack installation (gnome-control-center) and ibus support. GNOME Software has replaced Ubuntu Software Center. GNOME Calendar and GNOME Logs are installed by default. GNOME Builder (IDE) is now available in the archives. Support for installing Snappy packages. If you want try the GNOME Classic session on the live CD, set a user password before logging out.
